IRP v4.2.7 has arrived: Enhanced Inbound Performance Optimization & Prefix-List-Based Statistical Models

The latest Intelligent Routing Platform v4.2.7 has just been released. This update includes significant improvements to Inbound Performance Optimization, refined reporting, and expanded IPv6 support. Each feature is designed to deliver better network performance and improved usability. Below are the key updates included in this release.

Enhanced Inbound Performance Optimization

The updated Inbound Performance module now incorporates the model stability concept, which evaluates aggregate traffic volumes to enable smarter rule activation decisions. Interaction between inbound performance and the platform’s explorer component has been optimized for faster and more accurate probe result processing. Additionally, a new RTT worsening parameter has been introduced to remove improvements when RTT exceeds defined thresholds, ensuring that inbound enhancements remain within acceptable latency limits.

Prefix-Lists & Inbound Performance Optimization

This release introduces the ability to leverage prefix lists for refining inbound performance optimization. By specifying custom prefix lists, users can fine-tune IRP’s statistical models, enabling greater precision and flexibility in managing and optimizing inbound traffic.

Improved Reporting and Usability

Usability enhancements have been implemented across the platform for a more streamlined experience. A country filter has been added to the Prefix Statistics report, enabling targeted data segmentation. A new column provides clarity on “reconfirmed improvements,” reducing confusion in reports. The “Show All Columns” option in the Current Improvements report allows for quick display of all columns, while file exports can now be managed more efficiently with the addition of “Clear All” and individual “Clear” buttons.

IPv6 Processing and Bulk Configuration Updates

The global aggregate maximum mask for IRP IPv6 processing has been adjusted to /56 to support evolving network requirements. Additionally, the functionality to configure moderated inbound commit control improvements in bulk has been introduced, streamlining management and saving time when handling multiple changes.

Other Notable Enhancements

  • A new routing policy parameter enables latency improvements to override Bandwidth Commit Control decisions, offering greater flexibility in routing optimizations.
  • Failover role indicators have been added to multiple events, clarifying whether the event pertains to an active or standby instance.
  • Events have been introduced to report Commit Control level changes across three states: OK, pre-overload, and overload, for improved monitoring and decision-making.
